The Salomon S/Max 90 W GW ski boot is a perfect boot for upper-end intermediate to advanced level skiers who want something with a moderate flexing boot that balances performance and comfort. The S/Max collection is designed around skiers with a narrower foot, and skiers that just prefer the performance-oriented fit that comes along with a last of 98 millimeters. These boots would work well for a confident yet leisurely skier as they feature a moderate flex profile of 90. The liner in this boot is pretty cool. Often times, there can be hotspots in a ski boot or in other words, areas of the boot that create issues with fit and comfort. Seams and other pieces of protruding material can cause these hotspots, so Salomon has developed a seamless liner in order to eliminate hot spot issues resulting from materials or protrusions inside the liner. Furthermore, these liners are fully customizable through heat molding and are really easy to dial in a nice fit. If the fit is almost there but not quite there right out of the box, the shells are also thermo-moldable and can be blown out to a last of 104 millimeters wide. Being on the softer side of the flex spectrum, the S/Max 90 W GW provides a great balance of comfort and control. They’re not so soft that they feel like they can’t support you or provide enough rebound, but they’re not so stiff to the point where you feel like you can’t get into a nice forward athletic stance to attack the hill with. Ladies looking for a well-balanced ski boot with a performance-oriented fit will love the Salomon S/Max 90 W GW.
